1. Cocoa Butter Prevents Stretch Marks.

According to most dermatologists, cocoa butter holds no therapeutic value to prevent stretch marks. They say that cocoa butter is just a normal lotion. I used cocoa butter on my skin when I was pregnant. My best friend and I were pregnant at the same time. We had the same height and build, and gained the same amount of weight during our pregnancy. My friend did not use cocoa butter, and she got the stretch marks, but I didn't. I would recommend using it, since it works for so many people, and it has no side-effects.

2. You Can't Eat Sushi When You Are Pregnant.

According to Shape Magazine's writer Dr. Chris Bradley, " It's not fair to paint all sushi with the same red brush when it's quite fine to eat most sushi rolls and even sashimi. The only fish of concern is mackerel, shark, tilefish, swordfish, and tuna due to the mercury content, and a tiny bit (i.e., one roll, once a week) really won't do any harm". I am a vegetarian so I have no use for sushi. However, if I did eat sushi, I wouldn't risk it. Pregnancy lasts only 40 weeks, giving up sushi is an act of love for your kid.

3. S*x During Pregnancy is Dangerous to the Baby.

According to most doctors, unless you have a high-risk pregnancy or your doctor specifically states otherwise, having sex during pregnancy is fine. Many men think that during sex the baby might see a penis poke the baby. It doesn't work like that. The cervix is closed until labor begins, so there is no way that would happen. Also, many couples believe the kid might be scared for life to have sex during pregnancy. My doctor was overly candid and said that the kid will like the swaying motion as it will rock the baby to sleep. Good lunch getting pregnant! Call your doctor if you believe you might be infertile.

4. Pregnant Women Can Nott Fly in the First Trimester.

Many airlines will not allow women to fly when a woman is in their last trimester due to fears they will go in to labor on the plane. However, many women believe that flying at all, especially during the first trimester will be hazardous to the baby due to the shifting air pressure. This is a common misconception, flying will not hurt the unborn baby or complicate the pregnancy.

5. Dying Your Hair While You Are Pregnant is Dangerous.

When I was pregnant, my friends told me this urban legend and I fell for it. After conducting research from OBGYN experts, this tale was only true 50-years ago when hair dye had more toxic chemicals in it. While hair dyes these days still smell of ammonia, the levels are no way the chemical levels needed to harm the pregnancy. If you are still concerned about it, call your OBGYN.

6. Women Should Eat For Two.

Most people have heard someone say they are eating for twi, while this is technically right, this does not mean a pregnant woman should go crazy and eat twice the amount of food she normally would. Most medical practitioners recommend a pregnant woman to only eat 300 extra calories a day.

7. Women Are More Likely to Give Birth When the Moon is Full.

When I was pregnant I was told this urban legend by a nurse. She told me when the moon is full the gravitational forces which can effect the tides can also cause a woman to go in to labor. Whenever the moon was full, I put myself on bed rest. However, every major study has proved this old wives’ tale as inaccurate.

8. If You Suffer From a lot of Heart Burn When You Are Pregnant, the Baby Will Be Born With a lot of Hair.

Heartburn is a common ailments pregnant women suffer throughout their pregnancy. A good way to treat this problem is to eat starchy foods, or eat a few saltines. This urban legend holds absolutely no merit. If you are suffering from a lot of heartburn contact your doctor. You should not suffer in silence because you believe this tale to be true.
